About Studio Luga
Studio Luga is the photography practice of Ben Orpwood, working across street, landscape and documentary photography.
His work explores the relationship between people and place, finding interest in everyday moments, changing landscapes and the details that often pass unnoticed. Light is central to his approach: revealing texture, shaping a scene or drawing a figure out of shadow.
Working in both film and digital, Ben photographs on the road and closer to home in Somerset. The images reflect an instinct to observe rather than arrange, allowing atmosphere and human presence to tell their own stories.
The same care extends to the finished print. Working closely with a specialist fine-art printer, Ben selects paper and finishes that complement the character of each photograph. The works are printed on Hahnemühle Photo Art 380gsm paper, chosen for its texture and substantial weight, with a lightly frayed edge that gives each print a tactile finish. Prints are offered unframed, with framing available on request.
Studio Luga takes its name from Luga, Ben and his wife Nilar’s first dog who was their anchor just after they got married.
